What if you were never stuck at all?
The words you choose are shaping your life.
Almost three years ago, I left my career and for months afterwards, I told myself I was stuck.
I whispered it. I sighed it. I wrote it down in my journal like a fact.
And, as mantras do, it became true.
I wanted to start a coaching practice, but I was in limbo, waiting for something—anything—to move me forward. I told myself I didn’t know how, that I was trapped in the in-between.
Then, one day, I looked up the word.
Stuck: (Cambridge Dictionary)
unable to move, or set in a particular position, place, or way of thinking
in a difficult situation, or unable to change or get away from a situation
not able to continue, because something is too difficult
That definition sat heavy in my chest. No wonder I felt like I wasn’t making progress—I had decided I was immovable.
But what if I wasn’t stuck at all?
What if I was just… becoming?
Becoming, from the base word Become: (Cambridge Dictionary)
to start to be
to cause someone to look attractive, or to be suitable for someone
To start to be! That one word changed everything.
I wasn’t waiting—I was in motion.
I wasn’t trapped—I was in transition.
I didn’t need to have it all figured out—I just needed to keep going.
The words we use matter. They shape what we believe about ourselves. They determine whether we see an ending or a beginning, whether we feel powerless or in process.
So, if you’ve been telling yourself you’re stuck, I want to invite you to consider a perspective shift.
What if you’re not stuck?
What if you’re becoming?
What if this is the start, not the stopping point?
I talk about this shift in this week’s podcast episode, and I’d love for you to listen. Episode 91 drops tomorrow. If you’ve been feeling stuck, this is for you. Come listen—and let’s start becoming.
