Episode 063: A Personal Reflection on Change and Grief

  • Hey there! Welcome back to the "Live Your Truth Love Your Life" podcast. Today, I’m opening up in a way I haven't before, sharing some deeply personal insights and reflections on navigating life’s unpredictable waves of change and grief. This isn’t about advice or lessons but sharing a piece of my heart and journey with you, in hopes that it resonates and maybe, just maybe, makes your own path a little easier to walk.

Lately, I've been in a reflective state, pondering over the shifts that have shaped my journey—not just as a coach and entrepreneur but on a deeply personal level. With my mother’s battle with lung cancer, I’ve found myself confronting the realities of grief firsthand. This experience has not only tested my strength but also reshaped my understanding of what it means to truly be present for others and myself during times of profound change.

Grief has been a recurring theme, not just personally but in my professional sphere. As someone who has always been the go-to person for friends and clients during their toughest times, I’ve begun to question how to authentically embrace this role of guiding others through grief while navigating my own. It’s a delicate balance, learning how to hold space for others' pain while processing my own.

In grappling with my role as a potential grief guide, I’ve revisited my past experiences in law enforcement and crisis counseling. I've spent countless hours in peer-to-peer support, helping others through some of their darkest moments—from dealing with the death of colleagues to personal crises like breakups and financial troubles. These experiences have taught me the power of simply being there, of listening and supporting, creating a way forward.

This period of contemplation has brought me to a crossroads, not just in how I view my work but in how I present it to the world. There's been a pull towards rebranding this podcast to more accurately reflect the journey I’m on and the conversations I want to have about life, loss, and the transformative power of grief. It’s about aligning more closely with my true self and the work that continues to find me, regardless of the path I think I’m supposed to follow.

I’ve always believed in transparency and honesty, and today's episode is a testament to that—choosing to share the messy, unsorted thoughts as they come, rather than waiting until I have it all figured out. It’s about embracing the imperfections of life’s journey and trusting that by sharing my own, I can help others feel less alone in theirs.

As we move forward, I’m contemplating focusing more intentionally on the subject of grief—not just as a reaction to death but as a natural response to all kinds of loss and change. Whether it’s a career shift, personal identity changes, or the literal loss of a loved one, there’s an untapped well of support that we can provide for each other, just by sharing and being present.

I’d love for you to join me in this conversation. If you’ve experienced similar turning points, or if you’re navigating your own periods of change and grief, reach out. Let’s support each other because, at the end of the day, it’s our shared experiences that bind us and help us grow.

Thank you for tuning in, and remember, you're not alone. We’re in this together, finding our way through the changes, and coming out stronger on the other side. Stay tuned for more chats, and don't forget to subscribe for updates on this evolving journey.
